Otracom redevelopment project awarded to Snowden
Downer is pleased to announce the redevelopment of its world-class tyre analysis and reporting software, Otracom, to bring even more value to its users across the globe. The redevelopment project has been awarded to Snowden, the developers of the original Otracom solution and other world-class mining software systems.
In use in seven countries at over 80 mines, Otracom is an internationally recognised Tyre Management System (TMS) that tracks and manages tyres and rims from manufacture to disposal to identify performance trends and, ultimately, reduce tyre-related costs. It provides customers with lifecycle inventory control (including repairs, transfers, scrapped tyres etc.), tyre cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting, real-time alerts and notifications, and business intelligence reporting. Otracom is a multi-language web and mobile app-based system accessed over the Internet. Customers use Otracom either as part of the Otraco tyre management service or subscribe to the system itself. Otracom is user-friendly, and provides integration with tyre-pressure management systems (TPMS), fleet management and ERP systems. It is supported from Australia, with support resources also based in South Africa and Chile.
The improved software will address user feedback and suggestions, as well as incorporating new and exciting technologies that will improve performance, user experience and deliver enhanced reporting and analytics for users to drive improved business performance. The redeveloped software is planned for release in early 2017.
Snowden is a mining consultancy and software business that supports mining companies and their investors in evaluating new mines, improving the performance of existing operations and complying with regulatory requirements. Perhaps best known for 30 years of mining technical consulting experience across the globe, Snowden has also developed a growing technology business. Over the past 15 years, Snowden has delivered world-class commercial mining software systems such as Reconcilor and Supervisor, as well as developing and maintaining a number of bespoke systems for some of the largest mining companies in the world.
Brendan Swan, Plant Systems Superintendent at Downer’s Mining division, said: “Downer is excited to commence this redevelopment project to upgrade our Otracom software system. We are very happy to have Snowden on board as our partners in this project. Snowden brings innovation, efficiency and professionalism alongside a proven track record of delivering software development projects. John Hearne, CEO of Snowden said: “Snowden is thrilled to be awarded this work and be working with Downer on this exciting project. We are looking forward to implementing state of the art technology to improve all aspects of the user experience and outcomes. This award provides support to our growing technology business.”
