In August 2017, Mitchell Lomas was involved in a workplace incident, which resulted in serious burns to parts of his body.
Emergency procedures were put in place and after initial first aid was rendered, Mitchell was flown off site by a Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital. Just over two years later, Mitchell was able to meet one of his rescuers, Todd Mulville, during a visit to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service facility.
Mitchell was accompanied by Greg Glennon, General Manager Otraco and Leon Woods, Otraco Hunter Valley Area Manager, during the visit to the Upper Hunter Branch. On behalf of Otraco, they proudly presented Westpac Rescue Helicopter with an $80,000 donation, which will assist the organisation to continue to provide aeromedical assistance across the region to those in need throughout the Hunter region.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service operates 24 hours, seven days a week, responding to 1,500 missions each year throughout Northern NSW, from three operational bases in Belmont, Tamworth and Lismore.
