WA Strongman/Woman is a sport that seeks to challenge competitors through strength-based events, that are designed to push the human body to its very limits. Competitions can see athletes carrying 400kg on their back over a set distance, lifting over 300kg in deadlifts, or even pulling trucks weighing over 20 tonnes. There are few limits to the events and training that strongmen put themselves through.
Our very own Patrick Hardie, recruiter extraordinaire, recently competed in the WA Strongman competition and came out on top by breaking a State Record for his weight class!
In an extraordinary effort Pat lifted 280kg in the axle deadlift, to take out the under 80kg class and break the state record.
Otraco proudly stepped up to support both Patrick and WA Strongman, by providing some very large and heavy truck tyres for the competition. Many of our team headed in to Perth's CBD to cheer him on as well.
A near 40-degree day proved no challenge to these athletes, with amazing feats of strength showcased from tyre deadlifts, to Viking presses, farmer carries, and Conans wheel.
Congratulations Patrick, and to all the competitors on a great effort. We’re so proud of your dedication and perseverance. And we really hope you enjoyed an amazing cheat meal after all the pre-comp shredding!
