Meet Joel Andress
Joining Otraco in 2014, Joel is located in Queensland and supports the day-to-day operations across 5 of our largest sites in the region including Yarrabee, Cameby Downs, Hail Creek, Blackwater and Dawson.
With Otraco for over 10 years, Joel previously worked in carpentry before becoming a fully qualified Tyre Fitter by successfully completing Otraco’s extensive in-house training programs. Well-liked by his teammates, Joel has worked on many of the Otraco sites across Queensland. Today Joel draws on his solid working knowledge and site experience to help local teams minimise potential disruptions to ensure operations continue to run smoothly for Otraco and our clients.
What do you most enjoy about working with Otraco?
I enjoy the work-life balance, career opportunities and training programs that Otraco continually offer. Through the in-house training programs, I’ve become a qualified Tyre Fitter and learned a lot of other valuable skills. These have helped me with career pathways that might not have been available to me with another company. I also like the open culture and management style which makes it easy for anyone to comfortably approach their leaders with questions, suggestions, or issues and feel supported through the process.
How has your career developed with Otraco?
After starting as a Trainee Tyre Fitter with Otraco (over 10 years ago!), I’ve learned new skills that have now furthered my career. Major positive changes include new technical skills, personal growth, career development and creating long term relationships with some great teammates.
What are you excited about for the future within Otraco?
Innovation and improvement projects for our sites is what I’m most excited about. Otraco actively encourages employees to submit new ideas for improvement and its always great to see new tooling, digital improvements, and changes in processes being introduced that improve safety and efficiency across our regions.
What advice would you give a job seeker who’s thinking about applying for a job with Otraco?
Otraco is a great place to work and previous experience isn’t always necessary. The in-house training programs provide all the skills training that you need, and the support network is amazing.
